RTI Information
In education, Response To Intervention (commonly abbreviated RTI or RtI) is a method of academic intervention that is designed to provide early, effective assistance to children who are having difficulty learning. RTI seeks to prevent academic failure through early intervention, frequent progress measurement, and increasingly intensive research-based instructional interventions for children who continue to have difficulty.
Recently, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) established new criteria schools must use when determining if a student has a learning disability. Effective on and after July 1, 2012, a school district must have an RtI process in place that meets these new guidelines.

The RtI Stakeholder Team, compiled the information below for Plainedge parents, students, faculty and anyone else interested in learning more about RtI and what the district is doing to prepare to meet NYSED's new criteria. They invite you to browse through the information and to call the Office of the Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum & Instruction, with any questions at (516) 992-7460.
